Please follow the steps to record a voice track in Garage Band.

Plug in USB headset
Go to system preferences from the apple toolbar on the top left corner of the screen.
Under sound choose USB for input and set the volume to halfway. Then choose USB for input and output.
Open Garage Band
Choose preferences under the Garage Band tool bar.
In preferences choose Audio/MIDI.
Choose USB for audio input and output.
Once back on the GBand screen, choose new track under track on the toolbar.
Select real instrument and vocal (no effects).
Get ready to record and hit the red record button at the bottom of your screen and speak away.
